Following a period of uncertainty, Qatar Airways confirmed the return of several important regional routes. Flights from Doha to various Middle Eastern cities are set to restart gradually, beginning in late April.

Here’s what passengers should be aware of.

--------- CONTINUE APÓS O ANÚNCIO ---------

Daily UAE Flights to Restart on 23 April

As of 23 April 2026, Qatar Airways will reinstate daily flights to:

  • Dubai (DXB)
  • Sharjah (SHJ)

This marks a significant advancement, particularly for those traveling for work, business, or short visits between Qatar and the UAE. Both destinations are quite favored and typically have high flight frequencies, thus the resumption of daily services indicates gradual stabilization.

Damascus Flights Set to Restart on 1 May

Services to Damascus will also be reintroduced starting 1 May 2026, with daily flights anticipated. Given Syria’s limited international connections in recent times, this development is particularly noteworthy. It creates yet another vital route for those traveling to and from the region.

A Broader Network Recovery Strategy

This initiative encompasses more than just selected routes. It fits into a larger strategic plan.

Earlier this April, Qatar Airways announced its intention to operate flights to over 150 global destinations by 16 June 2026. The plan is straightforward: gradually rebuild the international network while ensuring flexibility.

Flexible Travel Options Remain in Place

If you possess a ticket, some accommodations are offered. Passengers with confirmed bookings from 28 February to 15 September 2026 can:

  • Modify travel dates at no charge until 31 October 2026
  • Make further modifications without incurring fees if flights are affected
  • Request refunds for unused tickets

Refund processing may take up to 28 business days, so it’s advisable to plan accordingly in case of cancellations.

Considerations for Passengers

Flight timetables could still change. This is the current reality. Therefore, it’s wise to:

  • Regularly verify your flight status
  • Update your contact information in your booking
  • Allocate extra time for potential schedule modifications

Conclusion

Qatar Airways is gradually reconstructing its Middle Eastern network with pivotal routes like Dubai, Sharjah, and Damascus. For travelers, this is an encouraging development, but it does not signify a complete return to normality just yet.

If you plan to travel soon, it is essential to stay adaptable. While improvements are visible, the situation is still evolving methodically.
