Passengers flying on Air India from Ahmedabad should be aware of a significant update. Beginning on 29 March 2026, the carrier will relocate all of its domestic operations to Terminal 2 at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport.

Previously, Air India’s domestic services in Ahmedabad (AMD) were based in Terminal 1. However, starting March 29, all Air India domestic and international flights will operate from the same terminal, enhancing the travel experience by simplifying the process.

What Is Changing Specifically?

Currently, Air India runs about 210 domestic flights each week from and to Ahmedabad. Effective March 29, these flights will all transition to Terminal 2.

As international flights have been functioning from Terminal 2 already, this consolidation will provide a unified experience. Consequently, passengers will have no need to switch terminals based on their flight destination.

Why Choose Terminal 2?

Terminal 2 at Ahmedabad Airport (AMD) is more modern and offers greater space. The goal is to streamline the travel experience, making it more efficient and enjoyable.

Travellers can look forward to the following features:

  • A vast terminal space covering 49,000 square metres
  • 52 check-in counters aimed at minimizing wait times
  • Self baggage drop kiosks to facilitate quicker check-in
  • DigiYatra facilities utilizing facial recognition for swift entry
  • Numerous immigration counters along with e-gates
  • A wider range of retail shops, dining options, and seating areas
Self Check-In Kisok

In summary, Terminal 2 is designed to accommodate a larger number of passengers while enhancing comfort and ease.

Passengers Are Being Notified

Air India has begun communicating this shift to passengers via SMS and email. If you have a flight booked from Ahmedabad post-March 29, it’s advisable to verify your ticket details thoroughly.

Always check the terminal before heading to the airport to prevent any last-minute confusion.

Implications for Travellers

For anyone flying from Ahmedabad in the near future, remember this key point: From 29 March 2026, all Air India flights will only depart from Terminal 2.

Paying attention to this detail can save time and ensure your journey begins smoothly.
