Avalon Waterways is addressing the increasing interest in Seine River voyages by relocating Avalon Artistry II to the Seine starting in 2027, right after it finishes its final Bordeaux season in 2026.
This shift enhances capacity in one of the most sought-after river routes in Europe, where cruises to Paris and Normandy consistently rank among Avalon’s top sellers.
“Avalon is dedicated to purposeful expansion,” stated Pam Hoffee, president of Avalon Waterways. “This entails closely listening to our travelers and adapting our fleet of Suite Ships to align with destinations where river cruising offers the most richness, variety, and demand. France continues to surpass expectations, especially along the Seine, and we are taking action to nurture that growth for our guests.”
The company asserts that France remains a vital part of Avalon’s European offerings, with consistently robust reservations across the Seine and Rhône Rivers.
In contrast, the demand for Bordeaux has not been as strong. Launched in 2025, Avalon’s Bordeaux itinerary on the Garonne and Dordogne Rivers was designed for an intimate experience of France’s wine-producing region. Avalon will persist in providing Bordeaux cruises as scheduled through the 2026 season, ensuring that travelers who have made reservations—or who wish to visit the area—can still do so prior to Artistry II’s relocation.
Starting in 2027, the 128-passenger Avalon Artistry II will move to the Seine, increasing capacity in a region with rising demand, aligning with Avalon’s approach to intentional growth and careful development of its offerings.
“When travelers indicate their preferred destinations, we make sure to provide that,” Hoffee added. “At this moment, that destination is France—specifically cruising along the Seine and Rhône Rivers.”
