Metropolitan Touring is enhancing its cruise selections in the Galapagos by introducing two new extended itineraries aimed at both newcomers and returning guests.
Launching aboard the Isabela II and La Pinta, the new eight-night journeys are named Islands of Fire Adventure and Origin of the Species Adventure.
“These two itineraries were crafted as a double shot of espresso for those traveling to Galapagos,” stated Adrián Peñafiel, the marketing and sales vice president for Metropolitan Touring. “Two outstanding itineraries merged into one cohesive journey that provides a profound and engaging experience.”
Tailored with a focus on wildlife, the new eight-night tours offer travelers extended opportunities to see nearly all of the Galapagos’ renowned “Big 15” species, including blue-footed boobies, Galapagos sea lions, land iguanas, giant tortoises, American flamingos, and more.
Islands of Fire Adventure
Conducted onboard the Isabela II, this itinerary features visits to eight islands. Noteworthy stops include Santa Cruz Island and the Charles Darwin Research Station; Bartolomé, famous for swimming alongside penguins; and Santiago Island, where visitors can explore the cliffs of Buccaneer Cove, observe fur seals, and visit Chinese Hat, a beloved dwelling for penguins. Other landings include Fernandina, recognized as one of the archipelago’s most unspoiled areas; wildlife-abundant Isabela; and Genovesa (“Bird Island”), home to isolated seabird colonies.
Origin of the Species Adventure
Sailing aboard the La Pinta yacht, this itinerary navigates a course steeped in Darwinian history and ecological diversity, starting from Baltra and progressing to South Plaza and Santa Fe. It also features a visit to San Cristóbal, where the Cerro Colorado Tortoise Habitat is located, alongside landings at Punta Pitt and Cerro Brujo, as well as an entire day on Española showcasing seabird colonies at Punta Suárez and snorkeling opportunities at Gardner Bay. Travelers will also visit Eden Islet, Bartolomé, and Sullivan Bay, concluding on Genovesa.
