DigiYatra Now Active at 6 Newly Added Airports

The facial recognition technology is now functioning at the airports listed below:

  1. Surat Airport (STV)
  2. Vijayapura Airport (VDY)
  3. Mangaluru International Airport (IXE)
  4. Thiruvananthapuram International Airport (TRV)
  5. Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMI)
  6. Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport, Nagpur (NAG)

As a result, DigiYatra can now be used at a total of 30 airports in India.

This system enables travelers to pass through airport access and security checks with facial recognition rather than needing to display a physical ID at various checkpoints.

  1. Mumbai – BOM

(The earlier phases’ airports are also included as per the official records.)

DigiYatra App Downloads Surge to 1.9 Crore

The increase has been remarkable. By November 2025, the DigiYatra app surpassed 1.9 crore downloads. In comparison, it had only reached 38 lakh downloads by the end of 2023.

This marks a significant rise in under two years.

The takeaway from this is straightforward. An increasing number of travelers are choosing contactless access, particularly frequent travelers desiring expedited airport transit.

Udan Yatri Café: Inexpensive Food at Airports

  • Coimbatore (CJB)
  • Surat (STV)
  • Mumbai (BOM)
  • Thiruvananthapuram (TRV)
  • Mangaluru (IXE)

The pricing is straightforward and budget-friendly:

  • Tea: Rs 10
  • Coffee: Rs 20
  • Samosa: Rs 20
  • Water bottle: Rs 10

This offers a much-needed respite from the steep prices typically seen at airports for frequent flyers.

Complimentary Wi-Fi, Kids Zones, and Flybraries

Enhancing passenger comfort is also being prioritized.

  • Free Wi-Fi is currently accessible at 39 airports.
  • Kids Zones have been introduced at 7 airports.
  • Flybraries are now operational at 21 airports, following the addition of 5 new locations.

The Flybrary is a simple yet effective idea. Grab a book, enjoy it at the airport, and return it. Travelers may also take it with them and return it later. Additionally, they can donate books for others to enjoy.

Though it’s a modest concept, it significantly enhances the airport waiting experience.

Implications for Travelers

Here is the essential takeaway.

If you’re traveling from any of the 30 airports featuring DigiYatra, downloading the app can greatly expedite your entry process. Frequent flyers will find this particularly advantageous.

Moreover, affordable cafés alongside upgraded facilities illustrate a shift towards more traveler-oriented airports.

Indian airports are gradually becoming more navigable, less stressful, and somewhat more affordable. This transformation truly enhances the experience for regular travelers.
