In collaboration with Scoot, Air India has unveiled plans to provide access to over 70 additional destinations within Southeast Asia, North Asia, and Australia. Travelers can now enjoy seamless connections through Singapore, benefitting from simplified transfers, single-ticket check-in, and improved access to previously difficult-to-reach cities.
Recently, Air India has revealed a new interline agreement with Scoot, a budget airline operated by Singapore Airlines. This development allows passengers of Air India to explore significantly more destinations throughout Southeast Asia, North Asia, and Australia via straightforward transfers in Singapore.
More than 70 New Destinations Made Accessible
Scoot offers flights to over 70 locations in 18 different countries. Numerous destinations that were not included in Air India’s previous agreements are now available. Travelers can now access new places such as:
- Macau in China
- Padang and Labuan Bajo in Indonesia
- A variety of Malaysian cities such as Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Langkawi, Ipoh, Kuantan, Miri, Sibu, Malacca, and Kota Bharu
- Davao and Iloilo City in the Philippines
- Koh Samui, Chiang Mai, and Chiang Rai in Thailand
- Nha Trang and Phu Quoc in Vietnam
These new destinations provide opportunities to explore quieter beach towns, lesser-known islands, and developing urban areas that were once difficult to get to.
Effortless Transfers From India To Singapore
From India, travelers can catch direct flights to Singapore from Delhi, Mumbai, or Chennai, and then proceed with their journey via Scoot.
Thanks to the Inter-Airline Through Check-In service both airlines provide, customers booking a single ticket will receive all of their boarding passes at the beginning of their journey. Checked luggage can also be sent directly to the final endpoint, in compliance with local regulations.
This enhancement simplifies the connecting experience at Changi Airport, minimizing the usual hassle associated with rechecking luggage or enduring long queues.
Importance According to Air India
Nipun Aggarwal, Chief Commercial Officer of Air India, expressed that the airline is adapting to the growing travel interest throughout Asia. He highlighted that this collaboration allows Indian travelers easier access to distant locations, whether they are visiting the rainforests of Malaysia, the islands of Indonesia, or the beaches of Vietnam.
Insights From Scoot On The New Partnership
Scoot’s Chief Commercial Officer, Calvin Chan, embraced the partnership enthusiastically, stating that the airline is eager to introduce more Indian travelers to the unique destinations within its network.
Air India’s Extensive Schedule For Singapore
Air India already provides 49 weekly flights to Singapore, which includes:
- Three daily flights originating from Delhi
- Two daily flights departing from Mumbai
- Two daily flights from Chennai
Additionally, the airline maintains a codeshare arrangement with Singapore Airlines, enabling travel to over 60 destinations globally.
How and When to Book These Routes
The new itineraries for Air India and Scoot will be gradually made available on Air India’s website and mobile application, as well as via travel agents.
This partnership brings about a greater array of options, enhanced flexibility, and easier access to locations that were once less accessible for frequent travelers in Asia.
