Following a period of uncertainty, Qatar Airways is set to reinstate several crucial regional routes. The airline has announced that flights from Doha to various destinations in the Middle East will gradually resume, beginning in late April.

Here’s what passengers ought to consider.

UAE Flights Resume Daily From 23 April

Effective 23 April 2026, Qatar Airways will reinstate daily flights to:

  • Dubai (DXB)
  • Sharjah (SHJ)

This is a significant measure, particularly for those traveling for work, business, or short stays between Qatar and the UAE. These routes are commonly frequented, so reestablishing daily services reflects a gradual return to stability.

Damascus Services Reinitiate From 1 May

Services to Damascus will also restart on 1 May 2026, with plans for a daily schedule. Given Syria’s limited international links in recent years, this restoration is noteworthy. It creates a valuable connection for passengers moving to and from the area.

A Component of a Broader Network Recovery

This initiative encompasses more than just a handful of routes. It fits into a larger strategy.

Earlier this April, Qatar Airways indicated its ambition to serve over 150 worldwide destinations starting 16 June 2026. The strategy is straightforward: to gradually rebuild its global network while retaining flexibility.

Options for Flexible Bookings Are Still Accessible

If you already possess a ticket, you’re in luck. Passengers with confirmed reservations spanning from 28 February to 15 September 2026 can:

  • Alter travel dates without charge until 31 October 2026
  • Make further alterations without incurring fees if their flights are impacted
  • Request reimbursement for unused tickets

Refunds may require up to 28 business days, so it’s advisable to plan accordingly if you intend to cancel.

Key Considerations for Passengers

Flight schedules remain variable. That is the current state. It’s wise to:

  • Regularly verify your flight status
  • Ensure your contact information is current in your booking
  • Allow additional time for any potential scheduling changes

Closing Remarks

Qatar Airways is steadily working on revitalizing its Middle East network, commencing with essential routes like Dubai, Sharjah, and Damascus. For travelers, this is encouraging news, but it does not indicate a complete return to normalcy just yet.

If you plan to travel soon, maintain flexibility. Progress is being made, albeit in gradual steps.
