Southwest Airlines is now part of the expanding array of travel businesses collaborating with Starlink to deliver advanced Wi-Fi services to travelers.
Although Southwest has provided complimentary Wi-Fi to its Rapid Rewards members since September 2025, the switch to Starlink is set to bring faster and more dependable internet connectivity. The airline indicates that passengers aboard Starlink-enabled planes will have the opportunity to stream live sports, download music, engage in gaming, and work seamlessly without delays.
The transition is anticipated to be swift. Southwest mentioned that the inaugural aircraft equipped with Starlink will go into operation this summer, with a total of 300 planes incorporating the technology by the conclusion of 2026.
Starlink consists of a network of over 9,000 satellites orbiting near the Earth, capable of offering internet access nearly everywhere on the globe.
It is rapidly becoming the norm for Wi-Fi within the travel sector. Several airlines, including United Airlines, Alaska Airlines, Virgin Atlantic, and Hawaiian Airlines, provide Wi-Fi powered by Starlink while in flight. On the seas, Royal Caribbean, American Cruise Lines, Windstar, Lindblad, Scenic Group, Cunard, Oceania, Holland America, and others deliver Starlink connectivity.
