Authorities from St. Maarten’s government and tourism sectors are alerting visitors about a recent fraudulent scheme, wherein an unauthorized platform is charging individuals for a counterfeit digital entry form.
There have been reports of a private, third-party website demanding payments of up to $139.99 from unsuspecting travelers for this form. However, St. Maarten’s official digital entry form is entirely free and can be filled out at entry.sx.
“The Government of Sint Maarten is dedicated to safeguarding our guests and ensuring a hassle-free arrival process,” states May-Ling Chun, the country’s tourism director. “We strongly encourage all travelers to confirm they are accessing the legitimate website prior to entering their personal details or making any payments. If you suspect you’ve been billed by an unofficial website, we advise that you contact your bank or credit card company without delay.”
Officials recommend that travelers remain vigilant when utilizing search engines or engaging with online ads, as unauthorized sites may disguise themselves as trustworthy sources among those search results.
