Virgin Voyages is broadening its sales team by hiring business development managers on the U.S. West Coast and in British Columbia, while also initiating sales operations in Mexico for the first time.
According to the line, these new appointments signify one of Virgin Voyages’ most significant investments in sales since it launched. This expansion comes on the back of robust commercial progress, with bookings driven by travel advisors increasing by 27% compared to the previous year.
“Our growth is powered by First Mates who excel in selling premium travel, and we are capitalizing on that,” stated John Lovell, board member and senior advisor at Virgin Voyages. “With our complete fleet now operating and demand continuing to rise, this is an opportune time to invest in the partners and markets that are propelling our achievements. This expansion is focused on intentional scaling.”
Enhancing Field Support Across North America
In North America, Virgin Voyages has increased its field sales team to 16 business development managers and has redistributed territories in key growing markets, such as California, Texas, and the Pacific Northwest. Led by Koreen McNutt, the enlarged footprint aims to provide more consistent, high-touch assistance to advisors.
Virgin Voyages has also restructured its director of sales framework, with four leaders now managing expanded or newly defined regions: Tamika Bloodworth as the director of sales for the West U.S., Julia Glick as the director of sales for the South U.S., Rosalynn Domdom as the director of sales for the East U.S., and Sean Russo as the director of sales for Canada.
These positions offer clearer accountability at the regional level and guarantee that sales strategies align closely with local market opportunities.
Mexico Introduction
In line with its overarching global strategy, Virgin Voyages is launching its sales operations in Mexico for the very first time. The initiative will be directed by industry expert Alberto Muñoz, who will supervise market expansion and partner engagement.
Virgin reports a 70% rise in cruisers departing from Mexico since 2023, along with a 35% increase in travel advisor bookings linked to Mexican markets.
“Mexico is a logical next step for Virgin Voyages,” remarked Alberto Muñoz, director, Mexico & LATAM at Virgin Voyages. “There’s significant interest in kid-free, premium experiences, and First Mates here are keen for a product that truly stands out. Being present on the ground allows us to forge deeper partnerships and grow the market in a substantial way.”
